In this video SEO case study we will run you through several promo videos we looked to optimise and vital information to help you in March 2024.

Outline of the Job

The task submitted to Video Veggie was to try and rank this video for the term “More Quality Leads for Your Cleaning Company”.

From the screenshot below it was a new video and currently not ranking in the top 50 results for any keywords.

As you can see from the screenshot above the video had zero likes, zero comments, no views and yet to be seen for any keywords in the search engines.

The Initial Problems

Every video uploaded needs the foundations of optimisation to give it the best chances to rank number in Youtube search or in Google SERPs.

After analysis and research on the video we found the following:

  1. ✅ Title Tag was good as had the keywords used
  2. ❌ Youtube Description could have more use of keywords you want the video to rank for
  3. ❌ Need to add the core keywords in Youtube Tags
  4. ✅ Video Transcript includes core keywords
  5. ✅ Attractive Thumbnail to attract clicks
  6. ❌ Lacks channel authority (lots of videos but SEO needed to channel)
  7. ❌ No High Retention Views
  8. ❌ No Likes
  9. ❌ No Comments
  10. ❌ Lacking backlinks to videos and channel
  11. ❌ No Social Media Shares
  12. ❌ No Embeds to the video

What Work Was Needed Prior to Video Veggie Services?

The youtube video tags were optimised more for “Video Spokesperson” and “Web Presenter”.

We needed the Youtube Tags to be tweaked to mention the core keywords we were looking to rank the video for which was:

The Video Optimisation Process

The package we looked to carry out on this video was the lowest pricing plan on offer – The Garlic Package at $295.

Results After 24 Hours

After we ran the initial campaign for 24 hours the ranking results were as follows:

  1. Cleaning Business Start Up = #24 from not being in the top 100 results within 24 hours it had jumped to position 24
  2. Cleaning Company Marketing = #13 from not being in the top 100 results within 24 hours it had jumped to position 13
  3. Cleaning Company Business Plan = #11 from not being in the top 100 results within 24 hours it had jumped to position 11
  4. Cleaning Company Sales = still not being shown in the top 100 results (the channel lacks “sales” topical authority at present)
  5. Cleaning Company Tips = still not being shown in the top 100 results (the channel lacks “tips” topical authority at present)
  6. Buy Cleaning Leads = #16 from not being in the top 100 results within 24 hours it had jumped to position 16
  7. Cleaning Lead Generation = still not being shown in the top 100 results (the channel lacks “lead generation” topical authority at present)
  8. Cleaning Promo Video Production = #2 from not being in the top 100 results within 24 hours it had jumped to position 2
  9. Cleaning Video Spokesperson = #17 from not being in the top 100 results within 24 hours it had jumped to position 17

Results After 1 Week

After we ran the initial campaign for one week the ranking results were as follows:

  2. Cleaning Company Marketing = #3 finished ranking which is amazing as jumped from #13 to position number 3 in the results
  3. Cleaning Company Business Plan = #3 finished ranking which is amazing as jumped from #11 to position number 3 in the results
  4. Cleaning Company Sales = #2 finished ranking which really surprised me and think this keyword might drop in rankings (I explain why below)
  5. Cleaning Company Tips = still not being shown in the top 100 results (the channel lacks “tips” topical authority at present)
  6. Buy Cleaning Leads = #3 finished ranking which is amazing as jumped from #16 to position number 3 in the results
  7. Cleaning Lead Generation = #14 finished ranking which really surprised me and think this keyword might drop in rankings (I explain why below)
  8. Cleaning Promo Video Production = #1 finished ranking which is amazing as jumped from #2 to position number one in the results
  9. Cleaning Video Spokesperson = #1 finished ranking which is amazing as jumped from #17 to position number one in the results

Important Feedback on the Results

As you can see from the ranking results the video has performed some amazing jumps in the SERPs.

With huge jumps from not being in the top 100 for keywords to making it to position one is incredible.

But let’s discuss a few keywords which did not reach number one and let us give some constructive criticism on this:

  • Cleaning Business Start Up = Although business startups will want to know “how to grow their leads” then the intent of someone searching startup is more to do with tips to help them on everything which includes vehicle to buy, machinery to use, prices to charge, marketing strategies to accounting. The term is quite broad and for this reason, the video in time might drop a few positions for this keyword in the search results
  • Cleaning Company Sales = We was very surprised to see this focus keyphrase jump to position number two. The intent of “sales” is to learn sale techniques to win future work and although leads is a part of this growth we felt the search intent might not support our video enough. In time with future engagement this video might drop as might not meet the exact intent of the query so if this was the core focus we would recommend an additional booster package order or to create a dedicated video specifically focusing on sales and this as an exact match title tag
  • Cleaning Company Tips = Videos ranking with “tips” are offering tips on what machinery to use, what chemicals to use and how-to videos on cleaning specific areas. To rank for this term number one you need a clear focus video to match the intent and have this as the exact match title tag to get it to number one in Youtube Search
  • Cleaning Video Spokesperson = The jump from position 17 to position one is amazing. We were very happy to see this jump to #1 as the video matches this corpus very well and the competition was high so its nice to beat out the existing videos which were actually better optimised with this keyphrase as an exact match in other videos

The pricing plan used was the minimum Garlic Package so there is no hiding the fact that if we had carried out a higher package like Carrot, Pepper or Chilli the results would have been even greater.

The client could decide to place a second booster service and this would again bolster the results for some keywords (if it matches the search intent).
